Provenance

Provenance is a tactile-audio narrative piece about feeling in the dark, making meaning out of the world around us, and what it means to belong. As an audience of one, you sit in darkness and explore your surroundings through touch. By fitting the pieces you find together, a story unfolds. You hear the voice of a girl who has found a mysterious artifact that was stolen by birds. As she sets out to discover its true home, you encounter her world together and engage with questions that emerge through her journey.

Provenance was presented to the public as part of the ITP Spring Show in 2024.

Convieved and created as my master's thesis in the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU, the project allowed me to engage with interaction design, fabrication, lighting, sound design, and writing all coming together in a new form of storytelling experience. I had the joy of working with the incredible Paige Allen , who provided the voice of the girl in the story, and the help of a supportive creative community between my fellow students and my thesis advisor, Kari Love .

In addition to showing the work itself, I presented about the process at ITP Thesis Week 2024.
